Private Class w/ Prof. Steve Kardian & Our Meeting

I first met Professor Steve Kardian on Facebook. There was an online discussion about one of his women’s self-defense clips, which raised some questions in my Closed Facebook Group.

I reached out to Steve for clarification, and he kindly took the time to elaborate on his methodology for me. Rarely would a teacher of his caliber take the time to explain to a stranger online, as there are enough subject matter expert, keyboard-warriors on the internet to make your head spin.

Steve took it a step further, and invited me to visit any of his affiliate schools nationwide to experience first hand his methodology. Being swamped with work, I did not get an opportunity to take him up on his generous offer, but we remained in touch.

Finally, on Thanksgiving weekend 2013 we met at Grand Central Station in NYC and enjoyed a day of training around the Big Apple!

Since that day, it has been a great pleasure to share life-saving skills with a classy man as Professor Steve Kardian. Not only does this Gentleman with a capital “G”, possess prodigious skills in numerous martial arts, is a pioneer in American BJJ, and well regarded as the Godfather of NY BJJ, he even has his own Wikipedia page.
