Maria Got Her “Life Belt”
Last night, one of my dearest and oldest students of 30+ years Maria B. came to class and shared a horrifying incident that just happened to her. She was rear ended by a hit and run driver drugged up on crystal meth. The perp sped through a construction zone and smashed into Maria’s car along with several others including a mother and her baby until he drove into a wall several miles up the road.
Based on how Maria performed in class, we had all assumed her car was surface scraped until she told us her insurance company totaled it. I asked to see the pics of her accident and was amazed she survived. The amount of impact Maria absorbed would have sent anyone into the ER with at the very least, a concussion and severe whiplash.
The impact to the rear of her vehicle was so great, that it traveled through to the front to not only rip the front driver’s side tire off the wheel but, pretzel-ed the entire rim. Yet, Maria worked away unscathed. She even tried to rent a car to not miss this weekend’s class but Enterprise car rental isn’t open on Sundays.
Maria’s email:
Hi Thong,
Thank you for helping me put my accident in perspective. Last night’s class was good for me to process. Keeping up with you in dancing that Tango at the end of class took me back some years.
Here are pics from my Toyota Corolla that didn’t make it from the rear end collision with that hit and run driver. Amazingly, I survived the crash without injury, and didn’t need to go to ER afterwards.
Miracle. Lucky. Divine Provenance. Or not my time yet. Life goes on!
Here I am at 69 years old, ever grateful and appreciative of the preciousness and fragility of life after that moment of impact. I had much help from you along the way. I am in much better shape and physical condition now than ever before in my entire life.
Thanks to you and KaizenTao, Continual Growth and gradual progress was made over the years to transform me from a timid, physically challenged klutz to who I am today.
No Give Up!
With you challenging me to always try new and seemingly impossible tasks that others may take for granted like- rolling, catching a ball, etc. it gradually added up to making this difference.
By allowing me to take classes with many high speed operators, and highly talented individuals, I had to either sink or swim ( I still want to learn to swim). I had to keep up with everyone by pulling my weight and doing my share to earn my place in the KaizenTao Crew.
Through your example, stories, life lessons, and teachings, you’ve generously inspired me to become better and stronger. It prepared me to one day walk away from an accident of this magnitude… in one piece and on steady legs.
Life is good. Thank you Thong!
Maria

From a traumatized child who was born a blue baby, broke her coccyx on a bamboo bridge, suffered acute inner ear vertigo through adulthood, was excluded from all sports and physical activities, today at 69 years young, Maria has become a worldwide sensation and living inspiration.
Well done Maria, you’ve earned your KaizenTao “Life Belt”!
